Newborn

An infant grows inside its mom’s womb for approximately 9 months and is then born into this world. It is here that the job of both parents becomes tough, as a baby will cry for more than three hours daily making it impossible to get the necessary rest. Pediatricians refer to the long extreme crying of a newborn as Intestinal colic and research is incapable to pinpoint why this happens although there are various possibilities that explain this. One theory for a cause of colic is that the baby may ingest air while suckling, and another theory is that the baby drinks the milk too fast which may lead to the upset stomach. It is also feasible that the food being consumed by the mom is the cause while some claim the newborns immune system is not yet able to adapt to life outside the womb.

No matter of what caused it, physicians believe that this is very common among newborn children which means there is nothing to worry about since this will gradually go away in the next couple of months. Raising and caring for the child is the first step that the parents should take, and if it such even would not happen, some believe that it would make it more awkward in the period of adjustment. For newborn babies with intestinal colic this is a great solution, but it doesn’t always work. These are a few ideas that parents may try in an effort to alleviate their baby’s signs.

If the baby is in the crib, perhaps getting it out and holding or rocking it in one’s arms can do the trick but sometimes singing a song is good, as the infant will once again fall asleep. Burping a baby after nursing can help keep an infant from waking up, but a full-fed baby can also benefit from a ride in a stroller or car. When infants wakeup earlier they begin to cry so if parents put on some classical background music then it will be more useful to the children.

A warm bath would be a big respite for the infant. But you should be mindful to use water at the proper temperature as baby’s skin will not endure high temperatures. You can give a comforter for a newborn baby any time as the infant is going to love it as it feels like it’s suckling on to his mother’s breast. Simethicon drops have been established to stop the infant’s cry, since intestinal colic is normally connected with abdominal wind pains.

Also watch what you eat because it could produce gas which could be transferred to the child through breast milk. Intestinal colic is nothing serious because it is not even categorized as a disease or a disorder – it is part of the growing phase of a baby. To couples who decide to begin a family, this is just one of the many hurdles they must overcome.
